Stunning Indian and English wedding at One Marylebone Place and the Barbican Conservatory

Flo and Dhruv wanted to ensure both of their cultures were reflected on their vibrant wedding day. Split across two venues, they brought their friends and family from around the world together for two ceremonies, one Indian at One Marylebone Place and one English at the Barbican Conservatory. Their wedding day couldn’t have been a more perfect reflection of them.

Planned and styled by the incredibly talented Molly from The Tiny Planner, this stunning wedding featured vibrant autumnal colours that brought the two ceremonies cohesively together, despite their different feels. We’ve worked with Molly several times now and we’re always wowed by her work. We also absolutely loved the incredible floral designs by Boom Blooms — they created the most incredible feel across the day. It truly was a stunning day!

In addition to photographs, Flo and Dhruv asked us to capture a short highlight video of their wedding, capturing the mood and vibe of the day.

Flo got ready at the nearby Meliá White House, surrounded by her friends, future sister-in-law and her mom.

After she was ready, she walked over to One Marylebone Place with her family and friends.

While Flo was getting ready, Dhruv was already at One Marylebone Place, getting ready for the marriage ceremony with his family.

A Sir John Soane designed venue, One Marylebone Place was the perfect venue for their Indian ceremony. The white walls in the Galleries provided a clean pallette for the vibrant florals that Boom Blooms designed for the mandap and oonjal.

Before the ceremony started, their guests were invited to a breakfast service with catering by Ruby Catering.

Dhruv’s sister called the service to order and explained to the guests the ceremonies to follow.

After the service, guests were invited to a lunch reception, while we captured a few group and couple portraits for Flo and Dhruv.

While the guests dined, we hurried over to the next venue of the day — the Barbican Conservatory. The Barbican Conservatory has been a dream venue for us for a while — for those of you who follow our instagram stories about our house renovation, we love modernist and brutalist architecture and design. We simply love the Barbican — it’s one of our favourite places in London.

The Barbican Conservatory is incredibly spectacular for a wedding ceremony. The overgrown vines and tropical plants make it feel other-worldly. The height of the ceilings emphasise its grandeur, like a modern cathedral. For a florist, this might itself be daunting to decorate, yet Boom Bloom’s vibrant autumnal palette complimented and popped against the emerald greens of the venue. The tones were cohesive and yet reflected a different mood to the morning’s ceremony.

The floral arch perfectly framed them so well. We later used it as the backdrop for family portraits.

One of my favourite moments from the day — watching these two interact with each other during there ceremony. The way Dhruv looks at Flo is just wonderful.

Another favourite moment — high fives after their ceremony finished. A perfect moment between these two.

Moments like this are why we love capturing wedding days.

After the wedding ceremony, we captured a whole guest photo for Flo and Dhruv. These types of photos work best in venues like the Barbican where you can have some height above your guests.

Their cocktail hour was held down in the Barbican Conservatory floor. Their guests got to mingle amongst all the plants in a truly magical setting.

Dhruv brought back some Dark & Stormy cocktails for Flo and him — a very fitting choice as the night suddenly began to have one of hardest rain storms that London had seen in a while. A conservatory though is truly the best UK weather proof venue — you get the best of feeling outdoors, while staying indoors, safe and dry.

Flo and Dhruv’s dinner reception was held on the terrace at the Barbican Conservatory. Guests have the most incredible views of the tropical plants. An autumn wedding, the sunset arrived around 6pm, which meant the space and mood just utterly transformed as day shifted into night.

Flo and Dhruv gave a joint speech to all their guests — this is one of our favourite things on a wedding day.

After dinner, their guests were invited to join them in the Barbican Conservatory’s Garden Room for their dancing. They had their first dance to Fly Me to the Moon and utterly wowed their guests with their dance moves.

After their first dance, these two and their friends and family showed they know how to throw a party.

Rather than have a cake, they opted to have an ice cream tower and mini tiramisus for their guests. It went down an absolute treat with their guests.

What an incredible day — a beautiful fusing of family and culture. We wish you both the very best!
